Video Delivery Landscape 2017 #2

Video Delivery Landscape 2017

It’s here! After more than 17.800 views over both LinkedIN and SlideShare for the first version, the second version of the (somewhat controversial *cough*) Video Delivery Landscape 2017 has arrived. If you’re at ANGACOM in Cologne this week, you can pick up an A2-sized poster of the landscape at the Divitel booth (Hall 7, C31). Everyone can easily get a copy online, though.

If you’re uninterested in any background information, and just want to get to the good stuff. You can download the latest iteration of our Video Delivery Landscape by going here. It’s hosted online, but you’ll find a ‘downward arrow’ button in the bottom right corner, which allows you to download a print-ready PDF.

If you always want to receive the latest version of Divitel’s Landscape by email, you can subscribe to the Video Delivery Landscape mailinglist through the corresponding page on the Divitel website.

What Changed in the Video Delivery Landscape #2

As many know, there was quite a bit of feedback surrounding the first edition of our Video Delivery Landscape. Some of it warranted, some of it not so much. In this second edition of the Video Delivery Landscape, we made some changed based on that feedback:

  • Categories are illustrated more clearly by placing them in their own, bordered spaces;
  • The landscape’s title now better reflects that it includes companies, brands and products;
  • The Middleware category now specifically includes OVP’s;
  • The EPG category is now ‘EPG & Metadata’;
  • The Ad-Insertion category is now ‘Ad Tech’;
  • Several companies overlooked in the first version of the landscape were added.

What Hasn’t Changed in the Video Delivery Landscape?

The Video Delivery Landscape is still a thoroughly-researched, but ultimately subjective overview of the companies, brands and products that make up the video delivery space. It’s an illustration of the ecosystem-knowledge that allows us to provide clients with informed assistance for their video delivery needs. This knowledge isn’t infallible and is definitely somewhat constrained by our access to certain markets, but at the same time it’s also the best overview of its kind currently available. We’re always looking to improve upon it, so any feedback is always welcome. Feel free to either comment to this post or send us an email at [email protected].

Some Questions and Answers:

How often do you update the Video Delivery Landscape?

Currently, we’re aiming to update the Landscape multiple times per year, mostly surrounding major industry events like ANGACOM, IBC and such.

Where did you find your data for this landscape?

As one of the world’s premier system integrators for video delivery, the first version of this Landscape was simply a collection of the knowledge contained within our organization. Since then, it’s evolved into something that incorporates a lot of knowledge and feedback received from the video delivery community at large.

Can I have a written overview of everyone mentioned in the Landscape?

Yes. If you visit Video Delivery Landscape page and scroll down, you’ll find a complete overview of everyone included in the Landscape, with text links to their respective websites.

Your list isn’t complete!

You’re right. We had to make a choice to stop the resulting overview from being just a huge pile of logos. As such, we only included the companies, brands and products we deemed most relevant. Also, video delivery is changing more rapidly then ever, making it virtually impossible to create a snapshot that maintains its relevance beyond a few months. All that being said, we’re very open to feedback, so if you feel we missed something, send us an email at [email protected] or leave a comment below.
