Media Broadcast needed to migrate the national German DVB-T network to the new GEO-redundant DVB-T2 HD standard while adding future-ready monitoring and streaming technologies. The migration had to maintain seamless HbbTV integration, allowing Freenet TV viewers to transition effortlessly between OTT and DVB-T2 services.

Divitel assisted Media Broadcast with the complete migration of the national German DVB-T network to GEO-redundant DVB-T2 HD. Two new headends were installed into the complex hybrid DVB-T2 HD/OTT platform, HbbTV integration was established, and a comprehensive data platform was deployed for ongoing monitoring and operational support.

   Migration design

   Designed the migration of the national German DVB-T network to GEO-redundant DVB-T2 HD with future-ready monitoring and streaming technologies, including data platform workflow descriptions.

   Network migration

   Executed the migration of 80 transmitter locations in a single night, minimising viewer disruption during the transition to DVB-T2 HD.

3. 3

   Headend installation

   Installed 2 new headends into the complex hybrid DVB-T2 HD/OTT platform, with HbbTV integration enabling seamless transitions for Freenet TV viewers between OTT and DVB-T2 services.

   Monitoring platform

   Deployed a data platform with application log analysis, performance monitoring dashboards, and real-time operational visibility across the infrastructure.

5. 5

   Training and operations

   Trained Media Broadcast engineers on dashboards and platform tooling, and established ongoing operation and maintenance support.
